Bunnies need to be allowed in cabin with their owner, especially if they are relocating. There are at least 3 million U.S. households that have pet rabbits, a number that is likely an underestimate. At least 1.5% of US Households have at least one rabbit and the number is likely increasing with rabbits being the ideal dweller in today’s city apartments. These rabbits aren’t just pets – they’re part of the family. They know our voices, trust our presence, and depend on us the same way a cat or dog would. Families belong together – on flights and in their new homes!
Also, rabbits are the 3rd most abandoned pet at shelters in the US. Why? There are not just a lot of them, they also live longer lives than other small animals like hamsters or rats, 10-12 years, on average. Airlines not allowing rabbits to relocate safely with their owners is adding to the problem, with bunnies being increasingly surrendered at shelters, or even worse, left to fend for themselves in the wild.
